Tournaments are offered on Saturdays throughout the course of the year. The tournaments are primarily offered through the School Chess Association (Schoolchess.org). These tournaments are optional, but are highly recommended. Students will get four matches against players of varying abilities. John Glenn will also be offering two tournaments in the months of November and May. Please see calendar for more details

How much do they cost?

• The cost of the tournament registration and bus transportation is $16.00

Where are the tournaments?

• The tournaments are spread out around the Twin Cities. For exact directions, please see “www.schoolchess.org”

What does the student need to bring?

•  He or she should bring a pencil and a good lunch. Students may bring money if they would like to buy food from the concessions stand.

What are the tournament times?

• Bus leaves at 8:00 A.M.
• Bus returns at roughly 4:30 P.M.
