Think Like A King (November - February)
 Students meet in the computer lab on Thursdays to use the program “Think Like a King” Think Like A King is totally engrossing computer chess training program. Students move the pieces on screen to solve problems, while engaging text explanations make the game come alive and provide students with instant feedback on their thinking.
Students are rewarded with "Workout Points" for their effort and knowledge as they move through each tutorial, learning their way up our Thinking Belt ladder until they've achieved a Black Belt - in Thinking! As students move up the ladder, they have an opportunity to win different colored medals for each belt they earn.
Chess Mentors (March - April)
Chess Mentors is a partnership between the John Glenn Chess Club and Weaver Elementary. John Glenn's players volunteer their time and serve as mentors after school at Weaver Elementary. Players walk from the middle school to Weaver, where they teach third, fourth, and 5th graders how to play chess. The program is a six week commitment and runs from 2:30 to 5:00. Players will have an opportunity to appy to be a chess mentor in the month of February.
