Welcome to ESL Resource at John Glenn Middle School

ESL Resource is a place to learn.  Students can do homework from any class, get help, read a book, get help, study for tests, get help, earn extra credit awards and get help.
Some students in ESL Resource are now in ESL classes,
others no longer are.

ACCESS
(Academic Communication & Competence in English for Secondary Students)

There’s something new at John Glenn this year! In recent years, all middle school ESL students needing direct service were bussed to John Glenn. This year, they are spending part of the morning at the ACCESS (Academic Communication & Competence in English for Secondary Students) program at the DEC, and then coming to their respective middle schools to learn with their neighborhood peers in regular classes.

All of the ACCESS students will have English class at the District Education Center by North High School, and the students at beginning language levels will also receive math instruction there.

ACCESS students join other John Glenn students in ESL Resource to work on classwork, tests and homework.

After School Homework Help
Most weeks John Glenn Middle School offers late buses on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  These buses leave John Glenn at 4:00 p.m. and follow 3 routes.  They will not follow any student's bus route exactly, but will bring any student within reasonable walking distance of home.
Most weeks we offer after school homework help on these days for any student in ESL Resource.   Homework help on a Wednesday requires that a student have a ride home and makes special arrangements with the teacher.
Homework Help is not a social time, but a time toget work finished.   Students who are disruptive will not be allowed to return for two weeks.   It is a geat way to complete large projects, study for test, get caught up on work, and just improve in general.  Try it!  Sign up on the white board in Room 313.
