John Glenn Chess Club

Our Charter:

To provide boys and girls at John Glenn Middle School an opportunity to learn and play chess in a friendly, but competitive environment.

To encourage good sportsmanship, learning and critical and analytical thinking.

Our Club:

John Glenn’s Chess Club began 2001 with 60 active members. Members included students from 6th to 8th grade with varying levels of chess experience. Our club has expanded to nearly 300 players in 2006. The club meets after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:00. There are also weekend tournaments available.

The club runs from November 6th to May 14th and is completely free, but students do need to sign up. Registration forms will be available in the office or online starting October 1st.

All students are encouraged to join even if they are out for another activity. The club is very flexible and will accommodate busy schedules.
